Depression can be experienced by anyone and if left untreated this can cause someone to take their own life. This is more severe than any kind of illness and disease because this leaves a person unwilling to continue living.

There are still very few researches regarding how depression can be cured and avoided. There are very few solutions especially in developing countries like Philippines, Vietnam and other Asian countries.  People with depression experience emptiness, inability to feel
pleasure or love, they cannot enjoy their work or enjoy their time alone and some do not even have the courage to live.

People who have seen their relatives and loved ones go through depression have very little understanding of it and most blame their loved ones for a mental sickness that they do not even know how to solve or control.

In the recent study conducted by the Johns Hopkins Medical Center, they have proven that depression can increase the chances of heart disease. They can also aggravate illnesses like diabetes, arthritis, back aches, asthma and other disabilities.

Some would have frequent unexplained pains like migraine when in fact they are suffering from depression. Depression can lead a patient to quit fighting for their life and just give up on their battle to life, as reported in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine. Depression can also cause a person to get addicted to smoking, substance abuse and to follow an unhealthy lifestyle habit such as over eating that can lead to obesity and self esteem issues.

There are anti-depression pills that can be taken nowadays, but none of them have been commercially known to many Asian countries, unlike in the Western world Asian citizens do not invest on psychologists and do not make use of guidance counseling whenever they encounter problems.

The belief in psychological studies is still quite unknown to many and anti-depressant pills have not yet been tackled in many countries. Anti-depressant pills have increased its sales in the United States however we still know that this is not the cure for the emptiness that people feel inside. More studies are being done to find out what can really bring back the inspiration for depressed individuals.
