HIPAA HITECH Compliance is a mandate under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH Act) as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The HITECH Act Section 1176 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 1320d–5) expands the enforcement of the HIPAA privacy rules. The HITECH Act substantially increases monetary fines and sanctions of a covered entity for violations of the law. Civil money penalties have increased to up to $50,000 per violation, or as much as $1.5 million per year. The penalties for a breach of protected health information are substantial. A healthcare provider must ensure the confidentiality and security of medical records it holds. This is why it is of the utmost importance to properly train your employees in the proper procedure stipulated in the HIPAA laws.

HIPAA training is available online and is ideal for medical providers to take advantage of this cost effective training. Both basic and advanced administrative courses are offered. The basic training may be accomplished in as little as 30 minutes. More advanced training regarding security and administration for business entities using an EMR system may be provided onsite by your EMR system. When money is tight the online HIPAA training is both cost effective and will ensure that the staff is HIPAA-compliant. The online training is accompanied with an exam and those passing the test are awarded a HIPAA certificate. This is important documentation should your organization be traged with a HIPAA audit.

FSH levels are determined via various kinds of tests, including blood, urine and saliva tests. FSH levels tend to rise and dip occasionally, sometimes in a significant manner, throughout the lifecycle of an individual. FSH levels tend to gain momentum as an individual enters puberty and tend to dip progressively as the individual ages beyond 45 years—this pattern is easily evident among women who are progressing towards FSH levels in menopause.

When FSH levels are measured among women who are menstruating normally, the expected range is between 5 and 25 mIU per ml. If the FSH reading is above 25, FSH dominance is indicated which means that the ability of the woman to conceive is highly compromised. This also indicates a big threat of the menstrual health of the woman.

It is believed that rather than saliva test, FSH test readings gained through urine test are more accurate. This is because the saliva test is likely to get influenced by several factors including smoking or the use of strong medications and drugs such as oral contraceptives. Please note that small disturbances in FSH levels are not a cause for alarm as FSH levels tend to fluctuate during the initial few days of menstrual cycle. During this time, FSH concentration peaks and dips significantly once ovulation is completed.

What is PACS? PACS is the acronym for Picture Archiving and Communications System. This is the globally-accepted benchmark for creating, storing and viewing digitalized images in the healthcare niche. Healthcare facilities around the globe, including hospitals and private clinics, are adopting the digitalized way of storing patient information and adopting a faster method of diagnosing.

PAC addresses both these aspects by allowing physicians to view medical images on their screens apart from ensuring that diagnostic images are saved, retrieved and share in a regulated manner so that patient information integrity is not compromised. The main advantages of PACS imaging software include creating an almost film-free medical imaging system. This means that physicians across different departments within the same healthcare center or specialists across larger geographical distances can easily share diagnostic and medical images at the touch of a button.

PACS benchmarks also provide sufficient room for customization of such images that includes the ability to resize the images or re-work them, including changes in the brightness and contrast levels. PACS also presents many advantages to the patients where they don’t need to physically carry the films or image slides when consulting a healthcare practitioner.

Further, patients don’t need to wait for long to wait as PACS provides access images that are created rather quickly, helping to fast-track the entire diagnostic process. PACS-compatible dicom imaging processes also help to neutralize issues such as repeated imaging system since the entire process is computerized and highly accurate and also reduces the need for re-testing.

How to Save Money at GameStop

With more than 6,000 retail stores around the world, GameStop is the number-one used video game retailer on the planet and one of the biggest video game stores in general. GameStop is headquartered in Dallas, Texas and runs retail video game and gaming stores under many different names, such as EB Games, Babbage’s, and MovieStop.

Since about half of the business GameStop does comes from the sale of used games, the company does most of its business with customers who want to save money on their games. Here’s a quick guide for how to save money at GameStop.

1. Find GameStop Coupons

The easiest way to save money on your purchases at GameStop is by searching for 2011 gamestop coupons online. Online coupons are the wave of the future, with coupon sites like Groupon.com and RetailMeNot.com making tons of money by hosting and offering special coupons to all sorts of different stores.

2. Buy Used Games

According to GameStop, 48% of their sales come from used games. Used games are much cheaper than new games in the box, and don’t worry that your used game may be defective. If GameStop sells you a defective product, you can return it for another used copy of the same title. Be aware though that GameStop has a fairly stringent returns policy unless the game is broken, so read the fine print before you buy.

3. Trade Your Old Games

Since GameStop does so much business selling used games, head to one of the more than 4,500 GameStop locations that allow you to trade your old games for store credit. If you have games you’re not playing anymore, you should turn them in for money off your next GameStop purchase. Not every game has trade-in value.

4. Buy Games on Clearance

Just like any entertainment product, video games go in and out of style. That game you were dying to play last month is old news by now. You can save lots of money at GameStop by buying games they put on clearance sale. Usually these are older games or games that a store ordered too many units of. Clearance items are available as much as half off the suggested retail price.

GameStop fills the void between first-run brand new games that you can buy at pretty much any big box retail store and the used games bin at your local movie rental store. When you want a new video game but don’t want to pay full price, try any of the above GameStop money saving tips.

Halloween only comes once every 365 days, but the TV is on all year round. That’s why you should consider going as your favorite television character next Halloween, as the popularity of the boob tube should ensure that everyone will recognize what you’re dressed as. There are hundreds of options out there, but these are some of my favorites.

Television Show Halloween Costumes

Power Rangers – Kids still love these kung-fu heroes from the sci-fi TV show, and there are multiple colors to choose from. My favorite is the Black Power Ranger.

Velma – I’m talking about the dorky gal from Scooby Doo who was always losing her glasses. If you’ve got enough friends, you could show up at a Halloween party as Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Scooby.

He-Man – Every day on the animated series, this muscular hero would fight to protect Castle Grayskull from the plots of the evil Skeletor. Most He-Man costumes have built-in muscles and come with his legendary sword.

Star Trek Next Generation Red Shirt – These are the guys who always get killed off when a new alien threat is encountered.

Fred Flintstone – Everyone’s favorite resident of Bedrock has a number of Halloween costumes available online, and you can also purchase versions for Barney, Wilma, Betty, and even Dino.

Sonny – If you’re on a budget, you can learn how to make your own Sonny and Cher costume. If that’s not the case, purchase one online and prepare to have a groovy time. Make sure to get a Sonny Bono wig and sunglasses to round out the costume.

Cher – While she’s getting up there in years, Cher was a major sex symbol for decades. You could choose a Cher costume that captures her 1970’s look, or those with the body to pull it off could wear one of her more risqué outfits from the “If I Could Turn Back Time” era.

Big Bird – Sesame Street has been on the air forever, and no character is more synonymous with the show that the gentle, yellow bird.

Cheerios from Glee – If you’re a fan of Quinn Fabray or Brittany S. Pierce, be sure to attend your costume party dressed as one of the cheerleaders from the hit series Glee.

I’d love for my date to a Halloween costume to dress up as Cher, as the popular singer has been a favorite ever since I watched the Sonny & Cher TV show as a little kid. The others costumes are pretty cool, too.

I like the western genre in general, but I’m especially partial to modern westerns. Maybe it’s the improved production values, or maybe it’s the presence of contemporary stars. Sure, I wish spaghetti westerns still got made, but sometimes you just have to settle for what’s available. The next time you’re looking for a film to rent, give one of these a try.

Ten Westerns Made after 1990

If you like your westerns to be more contemporary, give the following films a try. Sadly, none would qualify as Spaghetti Westerns, but that sub-genre has been dead for over three decades.

Tombstone (1993) – Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers (Bill Paxton and Sam Elliott) seek their fortunes in Tombstone and run afoul of a gang of outlaws. The whole thing leads to the famed gunfight at the O.K. Corral, and a deadly blood feud ensues. Val Kilmer steals the show as Doc Holliday.

Open Range (2003) – Kevin Costner and Robert Duvall are cattlemen who fall into a feud with a heartless rancher (Michael Gambon). The final shootout is both lengthy and expertly done.

Red Hill (2009) – Set in modern-day Australia, this tense neo-western revolves around a recently arrived lawman who must contend with an escaped convict intent on killing half the town’s residents.

True Grit (2010) – The Coen brothers remake the John Wayne classic about a one-eyed lawman (Jeff Bridges) hired to find the killer of a young girl’s father.

3:10 to Yuma (2007) – A desperate rancher (Christian Bale) agrees to escort a wanted criminal (Russell Crowe) to a train station in exchange for reward money. Meanwhile, the two men bond, and the outlaw’s gang are in hot pursuit.

Dances with Wolves (1990) – A Civil War veteran (Kevin Costner) takes an assignment on the American frontier and develops a meaningful friendship with the local Indian tribe.

The Proposition (2005) – Set in the outback of Australia during the 1880’s, this grim western stars Guy Pearce as a captured outlaw whose only chance of freedom requires him to kill his vicious brother (Danny Huston).

Australia (2008) – Set in the Land Down Under during the late ‘30s and early ‘40s, this updated western stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman as a mismatched pair on a desperate cattle drive.

Unforgiven (1992) – Clint Eastwood revived his career as a former outlaw who’s forced to resume the life in order to care for his children. Co-starring Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman.

Appaloosa (2008) – Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen star as lawmen-for-hire who are brought in to clean up an 1882 New Mexico town terrorized by a local rancher (Jeremy Irons).

I hope you’ve enjoyed this list of 10 great modern westerns. Some have become cult classics since their release, while others are largely forgotten about. In either case, these motion pictures will transport you to a different time that’s not for the faint of heart.

Fantasy Sports Are Mainstream

Fantasy football in 2011-2012 is a lot different than it was ten or fifteen years ago.

Who remembers getting the Monday newspaper and going through the box scores to add up your league’s totals? Who remembers watching Chris Berman on NFL Primetime to get the rundown on the day’s stats?

Back around 1995, that was the best way to get all the Sunday scores from television. Networks paid no attention to the fantasy football audience and you didn’t have a crawl at the bottom of the tv or in the righthand corner. You were lucky to get game breaks with a big highlight in one of the other games. Besides the players in the nationally televised games, you were lucky to have much of a clue what was happening in your fantasy contests until NFL Primetime aired. Forget about getting your scores off the Internet.

Internet Fantasy Football of the Past

The first online fantasy football I played was on a website called “The Sandbox“. The site wasn’t set up for an online draft, so our league would input lists of preferences at each position. Once this was done, the Sandbox computer program would shuffle the deck, essentially create waiver priority lists for each position, then give people preference at one position apiece.

You might have the #1 pick at quarterback or running back, or you might be stuck getting your #1 choice at defensive line or field goal kicker. It was all random, but I must have always got my choice of kickers, because my running backs and wide receivers never met up to the expectations I had. No matter how far down the list I placed him, I always ended up with Steve McNair as my quarterback. I hated the way way the Sandbox put teams together.

Online Fantasy Football in the 21st Century

Over the years, I’ve tried out fantasy football on Fanball, CBS Sportsline, MyFantasyLeague, Yahoo!, ESPN, and most of the other prominent sites. The online presentation has come a long way since the good ole days. I used to hate Sportsline, though even it has gotten a little better over the years. Most of the sites give just about everything you could want: stats, analysis, injury news, and links to good websites.

Media Embraces Fantasy Football

Here in the reality of fantasy football 2011-2012, the sports media and even news media have embraced fantasy football. The NFL, which once was hesitant to associate itself with fantasy sports, now has its own official NFL Fantasy Blog, with news, insights, and video previews of all 32 NFL teams. Meanwhile, the flagship newspaper of America, the New York Times, has its Fifth Down Blog, where it covers the sport. These are just two examples of how the mainstream of America has embraced fantasy sports, because fantasy football (alone) has 30,000,000 American participants and its become a big draw for customers.

There are many ways of categorizing types of muscle disease. While some healthcare bodies group muscle diseases as primary or secondary based upon the nature of their origin, the common practice remains to divided muscle diseases as neurological, metabolic and inflammatory. Among these, neurological muscle diseases or neuromuscular disease are the more prevalent and well-understood.

One of the most common neuromuscular diseases is Muscular Dystrophy. This is an inherited disorder wherein the affected individual suffers from progressive loss of muscle mass, decrease in muscle strength and loss of muscular coordination. The symptoms might sometimes surface late, during late childhood, but this condition is usually present at the time of birth. There are various types of muscular dystrophies such as Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (CMD). This is counted among the more severe types of dystrophies. It usually leads to stiff joints and an abnormal spinal curvature along with some respiratory problems.

This condition can surface during childhood or adulthood. Most patients of Dermatomyositis develop typically dark-red or purplish patches that resemble a skin rash. The skin develops a scaly, rough appearance and the patient might feel painful nodules under the skin. Typical symptoms of DM include muscular weakness among the thighs, hips, upper arms, back and shoulders.

Most of the cheapest homes in the U.S. can be found, according to a study by the National Association of Realtors, in cities in the Midwest. Four of the cities are in Ohio—including the cheapest, Youngstown; two are in Michigan; one is in Indiana; one is in Illinois; and one is in West Virginia. The only city in the list in a different area is Ocala, Florida.

Cities in Ohio

Cities in Ohio listed as having the cheapest homes included Youngstown as having the cheapest homes in the country, Toledo, at number three, Akron, at number five, and Dayton, at number seven.

Although Youngstown was hit hard by the most recent recession, there has still been a lot of construction. The median home price is $55,400. The city is about halfway between Cleveland and Pittsburgh. At one time earnings for local factory workers were as high as anywhere, but many steel mills have gone out of business. For those who are not unemployed, average earnings are good, around $53,000, so people who are working can afford a home. There are large mansions selling for $200,000.

Toledo has also been hit hard by the recession. The median home price is $64,900.

Akron was hit hard by the economic downturn. The city known as the “Rubber Capital of the World,” was hit hard by the auto industry’s downturn, as unemployment went into the double digits. Things have improved lately, however, and unemployment now about equals the national average. The median home price is $74, 900.

The median home price in number seven Dayton, the city of the Wright brothers, is $78,700.

Cities in Michigan

Number two Lansing, which depends heavily on automobile manufacturing, has had housing prices drop dramatically as the car industry has suffered. The median home price is $64,400.

Grand Rapids has the ninth lowest real estate prices at $81,100. The area does have a more diverse economy than other Michigan cities, as it is not so heavily dependent on the auto industry and is considered the center of office furniture. People, even in that industry, have lost jobs.

Other Midwestern Cities

Number four South Bend, Indiana, has a median home price of $68,700.

The median home price in number eight Cumberland, West Virginia, is $80,700.

In the farming area of number ten Decatur, Illinois, the median home price is $81,300.

Ocala, Florida

Ocala, Florida, at number six, was the one Southern city listed. The median home price is $75,400.
